Pappas reinstatement/demotion decision set for Tuesday before Waynesboro board

WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Waynesboro Area School District board is expected to make its decision on the fate of Summitview Principal Steven Pappas at the Tuesday, April 28, meeting. Pappas was put on paid administrative leave in November 2025 in the wake of accusations of unprofessionalism.

The proposed demotion of Pappas led to over 20 hours of hearings where school district leadership and Pappas were able to present their cases to the board. The hearings and subsequent meetings have caused controversy in the community. Several petitions for Pappas’s reinstatement and a protest have been held by his supporters.

The board meeting will take place on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the 210 Clayton Ave. location. The meetings are open to the public.
