WAYNESBORO, Pa. – Waynesboro dropped a high-scoring nonconference matchup to New Oxford, falling 21-7 at home Friday despite an early offensive surge.
The Maidens (3-9) struck first with a five-run second inning, briefly taking control before the Colonials responded with a dominant offensive performance the rest of the way. New Oxford extended its winning streak to six games, improving to 10-2 on the season.
Abby Byers led Waynesboro at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two runs scored. The double marked her first of the season. Lydia Shank also delivered a strong performance, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI.
New Oxford’s offense proved difficult to contain, piling on runs across multiple innings to pull away after the Maidens’ early lead.
Waynesboro will look to bounce back Monday when it hosts Big Spring at 4:15 p.m.
